ABOUT THE PROGRAM
According to the National Joint Committee on Learning Disabilities, "learning disabilities" is a "general term that refers to a heterogeneous group of disorders manifested by significant difficulties in the acquisition and use of listening, speaking, reading, writing, reasoning, or mathematical abilities." A learning disability is presumably due to central nervous system dysfunction, and is not primarily due to other handicapping conditions, environmental, or cultural influences. It is not a form of mental retardation, or an emotional disorder.

oral tests, tutors, talking books, reading machines, tape recorders, untimed tests, extended time for tests

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS FOR LD STUDENTS
Requirements that may be waived for LD students: There is no additional data required during the college admissions process for students with learning disabilities. During the summer orientation for new students, students with special needs are asked to self-report any concerns or issues. Documentation on special needs is then reviewed and evaluated by the Director of Counseling and necessary accommodations will be made with each individual student based on the testing documentation provided and the interview process.
